TRUST GOD. DREAM BIG. WORK HARD.
Love keeps us going every day. Our love of God and His love of us is our saving grace. Our love of animals, nature, and country living is what drives us to work hard to keep what we have been blessed with. Our love of each other is what gets us through hard times and what brings us joy in the good times. Love is what keeps us pushing to get up when we don’t feel like it, when health issues take their toll, and we struggle, or we are just too exhausted to go on. Without love, we wouldn’t have a reason to do anything and the light at the end of our tunnel would have burned out long ago. It is hope that makes us take that one extra step, but it is love that gives us the strength to take that step. It is our love that makes up the true story of the Koutz Farm Family and it is God’s love, provision, grace, mercy, and blessings that will keep us going each day.

This bible study includes God, Noah, Shem, Ham, Japeth, and their wives.
The Great Flood was upon Noah and his family. Remember, from our last Bible Study, God said “The end of all flesh has become before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” Genesis Chapter 6:13. God was so angered in the evil of men, that he made it rain and flood and destroy all living things – all flesh upon the earth; with the exception of Noah, his family and two (or seven) of each kind of animal and bird.
God has seen the righteousness of Noah before Him in the generation of the Great Flood. God instructed Noah that it was time to enter the Ark, Noah and his family and some of the animals and birds.
God gave Noah 7 days to fill the Ark with seven of each kind of CLEAN animal, males and females. Two of each kind of UNCLEAN animal, male and female. Seven of each of the birds of the air, male and female. This was to ensure the ultimate survival of those kinds of animals and birds.
Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters were on the earth. Can you imagine 600 years of life?
The waters began to fall from the sky. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
The ark rose with the waters and moved about on the surface of those waters. The waters covered all of the high hills and mountains. All that was flesh died – except those that were on the Ark. Birds, cattle, beasts, humans and every creeping thing upon the earth drowned in the Great Flood.
After 40-days and 40-nights of rain, the water stayed on the earth for 150-days.
The waters began to recede and the ark rested on a mountain – the Mountain of Ararat – but land still couldn’t be seen. Noah sent out a raven and a dove to see if they returned to him or not. Their return would mean that the waters had not receded because the birds wouldn’t be able to land on anything but the ark.
The dove brought back an olive branch on her second flight out and Noah knew that the waters were receding. When he sent the dove out again, it did not return and Noah knew that is was safe to exit the ark. Noah waited 7-days and then took the cover off of the ark to look around. The earth was dry.
God instructed Noah to go out of the ark and unload all of the animals. Can you imagine this scene? Everyone coming out of the ark – breathing fresh air and stepping on land after being cooped up on the ark for so long?
Noah built an altar and took one of every clean animal and one of every clean bird and made a burnt offering to the Lord. This is why there was an uneven number of clean animals and clean birds – 7 of each – so one could be the sacrifice to honor God.
God makes a covenant with Noah and all the people of the earth – a lasting covenant that applies to us still today and to all our future generations. God promises that He will never curse the ground with complete flooding of the earth for man’s sake again. And never again will He destroy all living things by flooding the entirety of the world, as He had done.
This is the time of the Great Flood of the earth.
Over the whole of the earth – the entire world.
God regretted His decision to destroy the entire earth and all living things, because it broke His heart so much to have to do so. The evil was encompassing the entirety of the earth and all the good had be swallowed up in the darkness of evil, except for Noah's family. As noted in the previous Bible Study, God instructed Noah to build the Ark and told His family when to get on it and shut the door. Everyone made fun of Noah and called him a conspiracy theorist right up until the flood waters encircled them and the Ark doors were shut as the rains started falling. Then they wanted in the Ark, but it was too late. Too late to accept God's mercy and grace. They loved evil too much. They loved the things of the world, things of Lucifer, too much. They didn't give God a second thought and because of their great rejection and turning their backs on God - God took the one family on the entire earth - that followed Him and listened to Him and followed His laws. Everyone else paid the ultimate price of experience God's wrath first-hand. At that time there were giants on the earth that were wreaking havoc on the world and these giants had to be destroyed. God used the flood to wipe out the giants. You can read more about the giants in the Book of Enoch. If you haven't read the lost books of the Bible, you definitely should - ESPECIALLY THE BOOK OF ENOCH.
Through the power and wrath of the Lord, God Almighty, the earth was flooded and all life was destroyed. The flood waters drowned all living flesh upon the earth. Noah and his family were saved because they were righteous and not evil. They were honorable to God, having faith in Him – no matter what. The way to avoid the wrath of God and to enjoy the true love and provision of God is to have faith in Him. To be righteous and to read His word. To worship and rejoice in Him and He will return amazing grace upon you. Your desires and needs provided to you – just upon your request – as a reward for being a faithful servant of Him.
“Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”” ~ Genesis 7:1
God loves Noah and his family because Noah and his family have been faithful to Him. They have followed God’s ways and been righteous in God’s eyes. So, God saves Noah and his family from the Great Flood. This means that we are ALL descendants of Noah.
“You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth.” ~ Genesis 7:2 – 7:3
I have always heard that Noah took two of each animal, when in fact, Noah took 7 of each clean animal and 7 of each species of bird, then 2 of each unclean animal. We will learn throughout the Old Testament what animals are clean and which are unclean. As I learn, I will come back and update this list:
Clean: Lambs | Birds (especially Dove) |
Unclean: Pigs | Snakes
“So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.” ~ Genesis 7:7 – 7:9
This may be why we were always told that there were two of each kind of animal. A misstated and/or misunderstood version of the story. The animals boarded the ark in sets of two. Two-by-two the loaded the ark. But there were 7 of each clean animal. 7 of each type of bird. But only two of the unclean animals. They all loaded the ark under the of God. God can speak to the animals and He has full control of them, especially when God wants to use them for His purpose(s).
“Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.” ~ Genesis 7:17 – 7:24
This is the story of the Great Flood. This is the destruction of man and the evil within the man. God’s wrath was unleashed because God couldn’t stand the violence and horrible evil thoughts within man. God could see the darkness of man’s heart and because of this,God unleashed His fury and destroyed them. God saved Noah and his family because Noah was righteous and his heart was good. This is the story of the Great Flood – when Noah and his family entered the ark. When the animals went, two-by-two, into the ark under God’s commandment.
“So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made. Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth. He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground. But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.” ~ Genesis 8:6 – 8:9
Noah hasn’t looked outside all this time. He doesn’t’ know if the waters have left the ground yet or not because the Ark is resting on a mountain top and the Ark is covered so no one can see outside. Noah opens a window and sends out the raven and the dove, but he, himself, doesn’t look outside yet. The birds fly from the ark and look for tree tops and dry land. Without the tree tops, they will not find a place to land and thus they return to the ark to rest.
“And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark. Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return to him anymore.” ~ Genesis 8:10 – 8:12
The dove’s return with the olive branch is a joyous occasion worth celebrating. This signifies that there is land and trees that are accessible by the birds. The dove is released and she doesn’t return because she has found a place on land to rest and to be free. Noah is still waiting on the ark so the water can continue to recede enough for he and his family and all the animals to exit the ark and start their new lives.
“Then God spoke to Noah saying, “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth. So Noah went out, and his sons’ and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.” ~ Genesis 8:15 – 8:19
Whoo-hoo! Noah and his family and all the animals are finally free. God instructs them to leave the ark and go out to start their new lives. They are to multiply their numbers by having children and beginning a new generation of people and animals upon the earth. Thus, we are all descendants of one man and his wife – no matter what color, we are all descendants of Noah. We are all family!
“Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” ~ Genesis 8:20 – 8:22
God recognizes Noah’s offering to Him and makes a covenant with all living things – in God’s heart He promises that He will never destroy the earth and all living things as He has done. He promises that day and night shall not cease.
Dear God,
We lift up your name in praise. You are Holy and Mighty. We need you in our lives each and every day to guide us and lead us into the path of righteousness. We need you to help us turn from the temptation of evil for we are but flesh and the flesh loves to sin. We ask of you Lord God to be patient with us and forgiving of our sinful ways. We ask that if we stray away from you, if we or our children, or our family, goes in the wrong direction – Lord we ask that you bring us back into your loving arms and back into righteousness and faithfulness. Lord help us to learn to hear you, Lord. Help us know when you are speaking to us so we can make the right decisions and follow your true will. You are the Creator. You are the only God. You are Almighty and Holy. You are Perfect in every way. We love you Lord.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
Thy Will Be Done. God’s Will will always persevere over our own will. If you are struggling with something today, go to a quiet spot and get on your knees. Pray and talk to God, genuinely and truthfully. Tell God of your pain and of your struggles. Tell God why you are having a hard time accepting and/or following His will. Tell God everything that is on your mind and in your heart. It is okay to be angry and to get mad. It is okay to unleash that in your prayers to God. It is okay to cry and even yell. Just remember that God is in control and that God is with you – no matter what. Tell God and then let go. Let go of all of that pain. Let go of your struggles. Don’t laser focus on them any more. Don’t worry and trust God. Take this moment to truly let God take control. Folks, miracles happen when you do this. God HEARS you. God wants to HELP you. God LOVES you. God will PROVIDE FOR YOU and GOD WILL FIX IT. Be patient and have FAITH. The saying is “Let Go and Let God” or “Let Jesus Take The Wheel”. This is what you need to do. When you are done praying, you get up and you get busy focusing on other things. Things that make you happy. Things that help you relax. Things that bring you joy. That is what you focus on – and in the background, God is handling all that you turned over to Him. Believe that He will handle it and He will.
There have been MANY times that I have had to do this. It is hard to do, but it is doable. When we couldn’t make ends meet and I didn’t know how we were going to pay the mortgage or buy groceries for the week. I didn’t know how we were going to feed the animals or get gas to make the commute back and forth to work. I have turned my worries over and somehow God always provides exactly what we needed. Checks show up in the mailbox that we weren’t expecting. A family member reaches out and helps us. We get free dinner from a church event. A neighbor buys us chicken feed. Things unexpected start to happen. Our bills get paid. We get food. Our animals are fed. God provides. God provides in unexpected ways. God gives you miracles and all you have to do is give God control and have faith in Him.
QUESTION & ANSWERS
When we go through the Word of God, we often have questions and sometimes even thoughts that might not make us feel good as Christians. I know that our family often runs into this and we do our best to talk through them and find answers to help us better understand. This section contains some of the questions we often ask ourselves. You are welcome to comment with your thoughts or with additional questions too. We are not perfect by any means and we definitely are not Bible scholars, theologists, pastors or any profession even close. We are just a family trying to learn the Word of God by reading it and praying about it.
I THOUGHT THERE WERE ONLY 2 OF EACH TYPE OF ANIMAL AND TYPE OF BIRD? WHY DO YOU THINK THERE WERE 7 OF EACH?
CLEAN animal, 7 of each bird and 2 of each UNCLEAN animal. The difference is that God wants 7 of the clean animals and only 2 of the unclean animals. The Bible states this in Genesis 7:2 and 7:3.
I THOUGHT GOD WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LOVING AND KIND? THE DESTRUCTION OF ALL LIVING THINGS IS HARSH AND VERY TERRIBLE. WHY WOULD A GOOD, KIND, & LOVING GOD DESTROY ALL LIVING THINGS?
God tells us Himself, He is a jealous God. He has wrath. He cannot tolerate sin and evil. He doesn't allow it around Him. We are all His creation and He wants to love us. If you are a true follower of God, you will find that God is kind, forgiving & merciful; but all believers know that once His wrath is unleashed, there is no stopping it until He has destroyed that which His wrath was aimed at. If you are against God or do not believe in God, you cannot understand the magnificent power He has and the ability He has to bring peace into your heart, even when you are hurting. Your belief, faith & obedience is what God asks for and many cannot give that to Him. Those people reject Him and because they don't want Him, He gives them what they ask for - a life without Him is dark and hard and ends in destruction. It isn't like He doesn't warn us all in His Word. He tells us how to avoid that destruction. So, He is loving and kind, but is also full of anger and wrath for those that love evil over Him.
IF GOD MADE A COVENANT WITH ALL CREATION TO NEVER DESTROY THE EARTH AND ALL LIVING THINGS AGAIN, DOES THAT MEAN THE EARTH AND ALL LIVING THINGS WILL NOT BE DESTROYED AT THE END OF DAYS? IF SO, DOESN'T THAT MEAN HE GOES BACK ON HIS PROMISE THAT THE RAINBOW REPRESENTS?
Unfortunately, humans don't know the full plan and don't have the capability of understanding all the things God understands. Even the smartest and most intellectual theologist aren't able to fully understand this. One thing we know is the rainbow was given to us as a promise that God would not destroy the earth by flooding the entire earth all at once, again. He never said He won't destroy it at all, in fact, quite the opposite. The prophecy of Jesus' return says the earth will be destroyed by fire & a new earth will be created. God's people will enjoy peace on the new earth. Those that are evil & those that do not accept Jesus Christ as their savior will be destroyed in the fight against evil. Victory will be God's. It is written. So, the first answer is yes - the current earth and all living things will either be destroyed, or recreated with a new heavenly body, after God destroys evil once and for all. As for the second question, does He go back on His promise? No, because His promise was to not FLOOD the earth in its entirety again. His promise wasn't about never destroying at all. Is this cruel? It can be perceived that way, but if you have found your way to a relationship with Christ then you can see how much evil is on this earth and you, too, want it destroyed. You want a life without evil. Does that mean we think everyone that doesn't believe in Jesus is evil? NO. MY FAMILY DOESN'T BELIEVE THAT. We know there are millions of wonderful, nice, kind people that don't believe in Jesus. Does that mean we think that everyone that doesn't believe in Jesus should go to hell? AGAIN, NO. MY FAMILY DOESN'T BELIEVE THAT. Unfortunately, (and fortunately at the same time) we are not the end-times judge. We are not the one that says who goes to heaven or hell. The Bible clearly says that Jesus is the way. I have a theory, that very well may be wrong, and I don't want to mislead anyone because God tells us not to do that so take this at face-value - I feel like those that follow the original law of God, before Jesus, and follow it PERFECTLY, will get to heaven. I believe this is where the 144k come from (but could very well be wrong). I believe Jesus is the best way to heaven and he came for us sinners. Those that can't follow God's original law in perfect form. We try, but it is too hard for us. For those that don't follow the law perfectly or that don't accept Jesus, these people will have to face God on judgement day and all I can say is you are taking a big chance with your eternal soul by not developing a relationship with Him now, while you have the chance. If it were up to me it wouldn't be this way, only obvious evil people like Hitler and the people running the secret elite societies that encourage these endless wars, genocide, and like to purposely make people sick so they can provide the cure, just to line their pockets, those kinds of people deserve to go to hell; but it isn't up to me. So why take a chance with your soul, when all you have to do is call on on the name of Yeshua (Jesus) and repent of your sins, invite Him into your heart, and allow Him to be a part of your life? I know you have your reasons, and that is between you and the Creator. Not me or what I wish could happen for all of us. I don't think you deserve hell (unless you are truly evil in your heart) and I'd like to tell you that you aren't going there just because you don't accept Jesus in your life, but I can't tell you that. I believe the Bible to be the word of God, but I'm not God, and I know we don't know everything. I know that there may be missing pieces of information that were never given to us in our Bible. Scrolls hidden under the Vatican in their secret libraries and so forth that may tell us more to give us different answers. BUT maybe there aren't. Just don't take the chance. Learn who and what Jesus is about. Learn that He came for the sinners - for us - to give us a way into God's Kingdom. Give Him a chance. What do you have to lose?
When you are reading and studying God’s Word, it is important to find a quiet place without distractions. Turn the TV off. Put away the phone (unless you are using the Bible App on the phone). Tell your family that you need quiet time to be with God and ask that they respect that OR include your family in the Bible Study so that everyone is involved. A quiet environment helps you focus and learn much easier. It helps you retain more.

There is a lot going on at Koutz Farm between working our day-jobs, doing side-jobs, running the farm, taking care of a household, volunteering, working on our future goals, spending time with our loved-ones, dealing with health issues, and most importantly getting dog-cuddles. We know there is always a good story to share, a lesson to be learned, a craft project to create, a cute animal face to make you smile, and so much more to share.
The website gives us a platform of our own to share a little part of our life’s journey with you and to talk about our testimony, share the love of Jesus with you, and whether you reject that information or not – to accept our differences and choose to love each other anyway.

Think about the butterfly. It is beautiful and at its most majestic after it goes through its hardest point in life - the point to which it transforms into the beautiful creature you see flitting about from flower to flower, enjoying its best life. It wasn't always so, though. It starts out as a caterpillar - a creepy crawly little thing that has to fight for its life daily because so many things want to eat it up. Then, when it thinks life can't get any worse, it has to go through a transformation phase - where its body literally turns into a pile of goo in a cocoon. After it completely breaks down, it reemerges as the beautiful butterfly.
You are like a butterfly. Going through a hard time, the world feels like it is literally eating you up sometimes and the fight for your life never stops. Then you hit hard times, maybe even rock bottom - where you want to cocoon yourself up inside your house, under a blanket, hidden away from the world. You break down. You turn into goo. When it seems like there is no point, when you feel like giving up, I want you to think of the butterfly and remember that you are going through transformation when you are at this low point in life. This is not the time to give up. This is the time to dig in, lean in to other people that are willing to listen and help. I challenge you to take it a step further and turn to Jesus for help. The Lord is with you always and is just waiting for you to cry out His name and ask for His help. Hang in there, no matter what because storms don't last forever and you won't always feel like a pile of goo. You are going to reemerge as your best self, a majestic version of YOU. Just hang on.
