"When you combine the actions of trusting in God, dreaming big, and working hard - anything is possible."

CJK

"Yes Dear."

DRK

TRUST GOD. DREAM BIG. WORK HARD.

It's A Love Story

Love keeps us going every day. Our love of God and His love of us is our saving grace. Our love of animals, nature, and country living is what drives us to work hard to keep what we have been blessed with. Our love of each other is what gets us through hard times and what brings us joy in the good times. Love is what keeps us pushing to get up when we don’t feel like it, when health issues take their toll, and we struggle, or we are just too exhausted to go on. Without love, we wouldn’t have a reason to do anything and the light at the end of our tunnel would have burned out long ago. It is hope that makes us take that one extra step, but it is love that gives us the strength to take that step. It is our love that makes up the true story of the Koutz Farm Family and it is God’s love, provision, grace, mercy, and blessings that will keep us going each day.

Koutz Farm Bible Study: Shaddai "God Almighty" & His Other Names & Titles

As you read through this list of Holy Names, the meanings, the promises, the history, the verses, etc. and learn more about God's names and titles that can found in the Bible or used historically to reference our Holy Father's Name, don’t forget to check out the references at the bottom of this post and learn from the places we learn from, read what we read and make your own determination about what each name means to you. Read the Bible verses that are noted to in each section and really start a study about God’s names using your own Bible.  Pray for wisdom and discernment, that He might guide your way, illuminating the things He wants you to learn and for His promises to take hold of you and fill you up, so much so that His light begins to pour out of you and starts to fill up the cups of others that truly need His hope and love.

God's Names & Titles

Names were created and used differently across cultures and throughout time. In ancient Jerusalem, for example, names portrayed an individual’s character, which brings us to the question of the day: Do you know the names and titles God uses to refer to himself? Do you know what these names and titles mean and what promises are hidden within His names and titles?  Get more intimate in your relationship with God by really understanding who He is.

Praise be to the holiest of the holies, our God, Jehovah Rapha, who is working His promise of healing in our homes and in our bodies. Praise be to the God of Abraham, Isaac, Noah, Moses, Elijah, King David, the apostle Paul and the many others that served Him, those that God took from a life of sin – murders like Paul, adulterers like King David, Elijah who was plagued with depression and anxiety and the many others that He used for great things, to show us that you can be saved, no  matter what you have done in your past if you turn from your evil sinful ways and enter a place of TRUE repentance.  Then turn from those sins and follow God’s commandments – the greatest of these commandments is to LOVE one another.  I love you and have said a prayer for you, dear reader.  Thank you for being here learning about our amazing God.

El Shaddai

The Promise: El Shaddai means "God Almighty" and through God, we are given His protection and His strength. When you feel weak or troubled, lay it at His feet and let the might of our Almighty God take over for you - tag Him in to take your place - and He will give you rest, His protection & the strength to endure.

El Shaddai = God Almighty

Bible Verses Relating To His Almighty Name:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Genesis 17:1

  2. Genesis 28:3

  3. Genesis 43:14

  4. Genesis 48:3

Shaddai = God Almighty

  • El Shaddai means God is the Almighty God. In this sense, it also reminds us of His own words, calling Himself the one and only true God; as we like to say He is God with a capital “G”, not one of the many little “g” gods that don’t hold a candle to our awesome-awesome God.

  • El Shaddai also means the All Sufficient One; meaning He is all you need – He is enough.

  • El Shaddai can be found in the Old Testament 7 times according to the “Blue Letter Bible” (referenced below).

  • The “Blue Letter Bible” also taught us that “El” was another way to refer to the title “God” and is often used in conjunction with other words that describe God’s character.

  • Shad = Breast in Hebrew which refers to the care a mother gives to her child, God our Creator gives to us – God’s nourishment of our souls, our sustenance for life itself. Another word the “Blue Letter Bible” tells us about is an Akkadian word for mountain, Šadu, which is symbolic of power or strength. Though it doesn’t seem 100% conclusive, Shaddai may be derived from these words, and these ARE characteristics of our God, so it is fitting that El Shaddai refers to God’s provision and almightiness.

YHWH

The Promise: God is constant. He is everything - in every living being, in ALL His creations, in YOU! "I am who I am" (commonly shortened to "I Am") tells us that God is, always was, and always will be. He will NEVER leave you because He is the GREAT "I AM"!

YHWH (Yahweh) = God's REAL Name

Bible Verses Relating To His Holy Name – YHWH (Yahweh):

*Not all verses related to Yahweh are noted below because there are over 6,000 occurrences to YHWH (in English translations, we will see it as Lord or Jehovah)

Bible Translation Used: NLT

  1. Genesis 2:4 – 9

  2. Genesis 2:15 – 16

  3. Genesis 2:18 – 19

  4. Genesis 2:21 – 22

  5. Exodus 3:15 – 16

  6. Exodus 3:18

  7. Exodus 4:1 – 2

  8. Exodus 6:2 – 3

YHWH (Yahweh) = God's ACTUAL Name

  • Yahweh is synonymous with Jehovah & Lord. With this in mind, Yahweh, according to the “Blue Letter Bible” (referenced below), was referred to in the Old Testament of the Bible 6,519 times.

  • Yahweh denotes the omnipotence of God.

  • YHWH first appears in Exodus 3 when God speaks to Moses through the burning bush, giving him instructions and speaking of Moses’ purposeful future. During the conversation, Moses asks God for His name and God replies “Yahweh”, which means “I Am Who I Am” in Hebrew.

  • The original text said “YHWH”. In Hebrew, the letters are: Yud, Hay, Vav, Hay. Vowels were added to assist in pronunciation.

  • In the English translations, Jehovah is used instead of Yahweh in most translations to English.

  • Many say “YH” is the sound you make when breathing in and “WH” is the sound you make when breathing out. So, every breathing thing says His name with every breath they take.

  • In doing this study, I learned that the Jewish people consider this name so holy and sacred, they believe it to be a sin to use this name when praying to or conversing with God or when reading the Bible. Instead, they use the word “Adonai” or “Hashem” as a substitute to speaking God’s name.

  • YHWH is a “Tetragrammaton”, which means “the 4-letters”.

Jehovah

The Promise: Our Lord Yahweh is unchangeable and eternal. He was the God of our ancient ancestors and is our God today. More importantly, He is the "One To Come" - this is the promise of His return.

Jehovah = God

Bible Verses Relating To His Holy Title “Lord” – “Jehovah”:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Exodus 6:3

  2. Psalms 83:18

  3. Isaiah 12:2

  4. Isaiah 26:4

Jehovah = God

  • God calls Himself “Jehovah Jireh”, “Jehovah Rapha” & “Jehovah Nissi” referring to His Holy title as God along with the gift He provides to us – “Jireh” = “Provider”, “Rapha” = “Healer”, and “Nissi”= “Banner”.

  • The Most High Over All The Earth, The Unchangeable One

  • The One Who Was, And Is, And Is To Come

  • The Existing One!!

  • To Become/Becoming Known

Rapha

The Promise: In God, you are whole; allow Yahweh into your heart and allow Him to work His promises inside of you. Let Him be your healer. His promise is a spiritual healing, which oftentimes leads to physical healing.

Rapha = The Healer

  • God is the ultimate healer – and is called “Jehovah Rapha” meaning “The God Who Heals”.

  • We’ve already discussed the word Jehovah, which means “Lord”, “the Existing One” and the “unceasing one”. It is used synonymous to the name “God” with a capital “G” to represent the one true God, Yahweh.

  • Using our reference from the “Blue Letter Bible”, we learned that the word Rapha in Hebrew means “to restore”, “to heal” or “to make healthful”. The two words together, “Jehovah Rapha” names our God as the Great Physician who heals our physical and emotional needs.

Elohim

The Promise: God created all natural things - the moon, stars, sun, the individual hairs on your head, every person & animal, every plant & tree, the water we drink & the air we breathe. God knows you intimately, He understands you and is only waiting for you to call out to Him for His mercy, help, grace & undeniable peace.

Adonai = My Lord

Bible Verses Relating To His Lordship:

*Not all verses related to Adonai are noted below because there are over 434 occurrences to Adonai in the Old Testament alone (in English translations, we will see it as Lord)

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  2. Genesis 15:8

  3. Genesis 18:27

  4. Genesis 18:30 – 32

  9. Exodus 5:22

  10. and more, *Click here to view more information & scroll down on this external site page to see the full list of Bible verses related to Adonai.

Adonai = Lord & Master

  • Another word that appears a lot in the Old Testament is Adonai. According to the “Blue Letter Bible” (referenced below), it appears 434 times in the Old Testament (in our English translations you will see it as “Lord” in most cases).

  • Adonai means “my lords” and can be possessive or plural. It comes from the masculine noun of Adonay and is the verb form of the words Yahweh and Jehovah, as per the “Blue Letter Bible” we reference below in our reference section (which you should totally go bookmark and start using it for your own Bible studies.

Hashem

The Promise: Out of reverence for God's Holy Name (YHWH), the Jewish culture teaches us to say "Adonai" or "Hashem" in place of Yahweh. The synagogue banned the use of YHWH because it was considered to be too sacred for "just anyone" to use.

Hashem = The Name

Jehovah Nissi

The Promise: Coming Soon

Jehovah Nissi = The Lord Is My Banner

Bible Verses Relating To The Lord As  My  Banner:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Exodus 17:15

Jehovah Nissi = The Lord My Banner

  • Jehovah Nissi’s most common meaning is the Lord My Banner; however, it also means the Lord My Miracle – how about that promise, folks? He is LITERALLY the miracle you’ve been praying for; He doesn’t just perform miracles — HE IS THE MIRACLE.

  • It also may refer to the Lord My Refuge; now doesn’t that warm your heart knowing He is your Miracle and Refuge?

  • Jehovah Nissi (or Nisi) means The Lord My Banner and according to the “Blue Letter Bible” only appears one time in the Old Testament, but as you’ll see as we unpack this one, that it is so powerful, once is enough to make it stick for eternity. Your  banner, in case you don’t know, is your flag  (like the American Flag  or your  own nations flag)  and this is important because when you are in a boots on the ground battle  and you look up to see your nation’s flag still standing in the midst of the  missiles, gunfire and explosions, your flag is supposed to give you HOPE and to give you a focal point to get your bearings of where you are at on a chaotic battlefield  – your compass if you will. So, when we say the Lord is my Banner, what we are saying is the Lord gives us hope, He is our compass in a chaotic world full of things flying at us to unalive us, and He gives us a focal point to keep our eyes on, so we don’t get lost in the madness. There is a lot behind that word “banner” and when look at God as your banner, you will start finding increased comfort from Him as you navigate this world of flesh as it becomes eviler as time goes on.

Jehovah-Raah

The Promise: Coming Soon

Jehovah-Raah = The Lord Is My Shepherd

Bible Verses Relating To The Lord Is My Shepherd:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  • Genesis 48:15

  • Genesis 49:24

  • Psalms 23:1

  • Psalms 80:1

Jehovah-Raah = The Lord Is My Shepherd

  • Jehovah also represents the word “unceasing”, combine this with Raah, which means “shepherd” in Hebrew, and you have a God that is watching over you unceasingly. He never takes His eyes or His heart away from you.

  • Raah has some derivations (the word “Rea”) that can imply it to mean “friend” or “companion” so it makes one translation of the word Jehovah-Raah to mean the Lord My Friend.

  • So, as a homesteader that works with livestock, I often think about the story from Jesus that says he will leave the 99 to look for the one lost one. This name, Jehovah-Raah, tells this same story.   God is our shepherd, He leads us to good things and to real safety under His protection, if only we will listen. From time to time, one of us strays and God will try to find you and bring you back to His flock – in fact even if you give up on Him, He will NEVER give up on you because He will always go after the one lost one.

Jehovah Shammah

The Promise: Coming Soon

Jehovah Shammah = The Lord Is There

Bible Verses Relating To The Lord Is There:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Ezekiel 48:35

Jehovah Shammah = The Lord Is There

  • This name is not one we immediately recognized and is only mentioned once in the Old Testament, according to the “Blue Letter Bible” (referenced below).

  • We’ve discussed the name Jehovah in detail above, so jumping straight to the word “Shammah”, we reviewed and summarized what the “Blue Letter Bible” said:  The Hebrew word “Sham” means “there” and Shammah is a derivative of “Sham” – so this beautiful name of our Father in Heaven, means The Lord Is There. For the Jewish people, this means that the Lord has not abandon the Holy City to the ruins that it became.  For them, it means there will be a restoration of Jerusalem.

  • To us, this promise is so amazing, it means He is there – where you might ask?  Everywhere there! He has not abandoned us either. God loves us and is ALWAYS THERE for us when we need Him. We just need to call on Him with a heart of repentance, He will forgive and will be with you through it all.

Jehovah Tsidkenu

The Promise: Coming Soon

Jehovah Tsidkenu = The Lord Is Our Righteousness

Bible Verses Relating To The Lord Our Righteousness:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Jeremiah 23:10

  2. Jeremiah 33:16

Jehovah Tsidkenu = The Lord Is Our Righteousness

  • If you haven’t figured it out by now, the “Blue Letter Bible” is an excellent source for your Old Testament Bible Studies, we provided the link under our references section below. That being said, this is another one we didn’t recognize on our own and with the help of the “Blue Letter Bible”, we learned that Jehovah Tsidkenu means the “Lord our God spoke to us”.

  • It comes from the Hebrew word Tsidkenu, which means “to be stiff”, “to be straight” and “to be righteous”. So, this is why it is translated as the Lord is our Righteousness.

Jehovah Mekoddishkem

The Promise: Coming Soon

Jehovah Mekoddishkem = The Lord Who Sanctifies You

Bible Verses Relating To The Lord Who Sanctifies Us:

Bible Translation Used: KJV

  1. Exodus 31:13

  2. Leviticus 20:8

Jehovah Mekoddishkem = The Lord Who Sanctifies You

  • Mekoddishkem represents sanctification and separation of one that is of the flesh into the dedication of one that is Holy.

  • Jehovah Mekoddishkem can be translated as the One that sets you apart, and the Lord who sanctifies you.

About Us

Koutz Farm is our beloved little 7-acre homestead in Texas. It encompasses our family, our animals, our home, and the land. We love learning to homestead - everything from growing our own food, bee-keeping, raising livestock, to enjoying (and sometimes rescuing) wildlife, finding new ways to preserve and prepare our food, and doing fun things like making soap, jewelry, and other DIY, arts, & crafts projects.

There is a lot going on at Koutz Farm between working our day-jobs, doing side-jobs, running the farm, taking care of a household, volunteering, working on our future goals, spending time with our loved-ones, dealing with health issues, and most importantly getting dog-cuddles. We know there is always a good story to share, a lesson to be learned, a craft project to create, a cute animal face to make you smile, and so much more to share.

The website gives us a platform of our own to share a little part of our life’s journey with you and to talk about our testimony, share the love of Jesus with you, and whether you reject that information or not – to accept our differences and choose to love each other anyway.

Don't Give Up. Please.

You Are Like A Butterfly.

Think about the butterfly. It is beautiful and at its most majestic after it goes through its hardest point in life - the point to which it transforms into the beautiful creature you see flitting about from flower to flower, enjoying its best life. It wasn't always so, though. It starts out as a caterpillar - a creepy crawly little thing that has to fight for its life daily because so many things want to eat it up. Then, when it thinks life can't get any worse, it has to go through a transformation phase - where its body literally turns into a pile of goo in a cocoon. After it completely breaks down, it reemerges as the beautiful butterfly.

You are like a butterfly. Going through a hard time, the world feels like it is literally eating you up sometimes and the fight for your life never stops. Then you hit hard times, maybe even rock bottom - where you want to cocoon yourself up inside your house, under a blanket, hidden away from the world. You break down. You turn into goo. When it seems like there is no point, when you feel like giving up, I want you to think of the butterfly and remember that you are going through transformation when you are at this low point in life. This is not the time to give up. This is the time to dig in, lean in to other people that are willing to listen and help. I challenge you to take it a step further and turn to Jesus for help. The Lord is with you always and is just waiting for you to cry out His name and ask for His help. Hang in there, no matter what because storms don't last forever and you won't always feel like a pile of goo. You are going to reemerge as your best self, a majestic version of YOU. Just hang on. If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts or tendencies, please call 9-8-8 and talk to someone at the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Bible Study:  Shaddai "God Almighty" & His Other Names & Titles

November 19, 202316 min read

Shaddai = God Almighty

Rapha = The Healer

Adonai = Lord & Master

Hashem = The Name

Koutz Farm Projects & Initiatives

Meet The Koutz Farm Pack

Meet the man of the house, Mr. David Koutz. David loves fishing and riding his motorcycle with his friends. He is a magician - I mean mechanic - and the best mechanic that ever existed if you ask us! If you have a problem, yo he'll solve it; that is why his free time is always booked up with side gigs and motorcycle rallies. Koutz Farm couldn't be Koutz Farm without him and his amazing automotive and building skills. David says he is not a carpenter, but we've put that to the test and he definitely has the skills. He keeps things working around the farm and is truly our superhero!

Meet our up-and-comers: our beautiful daughter, Taylor, and her boyfriend Dom (aka Kai). Taylor officially graduated college and has already started a job as a History Teacher. Dom graduated college a few months before Taylor did, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is learning the skills of the trade with a local contractor. We know that he'll do great things in his life. These two are pretty much inseparable and they love doing things together and hanging out with their friends. They love everything from going on adventures, playing video games, and doing craft projects together. Oh to be young again.

Meet the weird and crazy one of the bunch - Crystal Koutz (aka CJ). Crystal is the primary Content Creator, Webmaster, Copywriter, Social Media Manager, and everything in between from CEO to the janitor. Crystal loves animals (if you can't tell) and spends much of her free time with them. She also loves working on her website projects (seriously fun to her) and constantly learning new things. She is what we call a Fibro Warrior because it takes daily strength to battle Fibromyalgia and other health issues. She says God is her rock it is only because of Him that she gets through each day.
